The course provides an opportunity for learners to study new aspects and skills of their profession, which was not offered by the regular academic bachelor's degree programs (Laboratory medicine/Medical Laboratory Technology) in Saudi universities. This will allow them to pursue assisted reproductive technology and/or a reproductive biology career without the need to modify or change their classification as healthcare practitioners.
By the end of this course, the participants will be able to determine the concept of:
- Identify the principles of bioethics, and discuss ethical dilemmas, legal issues, and religious regulations that apply to infertility treatment.
- Recognize the role of IVF in inducing pregnancy and understand clinical data concerning embryology and semenology.
- Understand the concept of preimplantation genetic testing.
- Understand female and male reproductive anatomy and physiology.
- Identify the causes of female and male infertility and describe appropriate workup, testing, and treatment.
- Understand the concept of assisted reproductive technologies, including IVF and embryo transfer, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, sperm preparation techniques,
